We use dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) to take a specialized 3-D x-ray image when a two-dimensional x-ray doesn’t provide enough information. 3-D cone beam imaging technology (CBT) shows our dentist detailed images that locate your jaws, dentition, nasal cavity, sinus passages, and hard and soft structures.
This information allows us to determine the accurate placement of dental implants, evaluate the orientation between your jaws, sinuses, nerve canals, and nasal cavity, and detect jaw tumors.

The process for getting lab-fabricated restorations like dental crowns and veneers involves multiple appointments spread over several weeks. In some cases, lab crowns will work the best. However in some circumstances, CEREC can offer crowns done in just one visit. With CEREC, Dr. Heydari uses CAD/CAM software to plan, design, and fabricate your dental crown or veneer in-house in a single appointment. This eliminates unnecessary wait times for lab-fabricated crowns and gives Dr. Heydari full control over the fit, shade, and shape of your dental crown.

Digital x-rays give us a full picture of your oral health that we can’t get with a visual examination alone. Instead of having you bite down on an uncomfortable film clip to take your x-ray, we use digital sensors with comfortable rounded edges.
With digital x-rays, we can see inside your teeth to identify cavities and under your gums to look for signs of periodontal disease. Dr. Heydari will take plenty of time to explain to you his findings and show you the x-rays so you can see for yourself why you need treatment. Since we use digital x-rays instead of film, your radiation exposure is reduced by as much as 80 percent.

An intraoral camera is a small handheld device that gives you a front-row seat at your dental exam. As Dr. Heydari performs his exam, you can follow along as he explains what you see and what it means to your oral health. Since you can see what he's referring to, you not only gain an understanding of your overall oral health but also of the particular issue that he is recommending.

Modern digital x-rays give us many ways to view your oral structure, including your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Sometimes it’s beneficial to see your entire mouth in a single image, which is what panoramic x-rays do. Similar to a pano image that you take on your phone, a panoramic x-ray gives our dentist a comprehensive view of your dental structure.
Another benefit of panoramic x-rays is that they are extra-oral (outside the mouth). If you can’t sit for x-rays, have a strong gag reflex, or have a child who can’t tolerate intraoral x-rays, panoramic x-rays are the ideal solution.

Another way we improve your comfort at 12 Dentistry is with gentle, non-invasive laser dentistry. Dental lasers allow our dentist to pinpoint the area he’s treating, which results in a more comfortable, conservative approach.
Laser dentistry also minimizes post-treatment bleeding and shortens recovery times for procedures like gingivectomies around dental crowns and cosmetic gum recontouring.

You can forget messy, uncomfortable dental impressions—at 12 Dentistry, the vast majority of our impressions are taken digitally instead. Taken with a quick scan of your teeth, digital impressions are highly detailed and allow us to customize dental restorations like crowns, bridges, and veneers for optimal results.

If you want a relaxing experience at the dental office but don’t want to deal with lingering side effects, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is the perfect solution. We administer nitrous oxide through a small breathing mask, and it induces dreamy, drowsy, and relaxed sensations. You’ll remain comfortable throughout your procedure, and those effects quickly diminish after we stop the flow of gas.
In a few minutes, you’ll feel awake and alert enough to drive yourself home from your appointment with no drowsy side effects.
